COACH
Anthony Curran has been coaching at UCLA Since 1983.
During Curran's tenure at UCLA, he has built a program of excellence
including 5 time All American Scott Slover 18'7-3/4" Yoo Kim, 18'4-1/2, and 3 other 18 foot vaulters including, Mike Landers, Dustin DeLeo,and
Brian McGlauflin. The Bruin women pole vaulters
are tops in the nation as well. Chelsea Johnson is the National Colligiate Record Holder @ 15'1", Tracy O'Hara also vaulted 15' and she was a 3 time NCAA All American while at UCLA14'7". Tori Pena cleared 14'3" and was 3rd at NCAA's in 2010 and moved to #3 all time at UCLA. Katy Viuf moved to #4 All time at UCLA and was 4ht at NCAA's 2010. Ingrid Kantola won the Pac 10 Title in 2008 to round off the top 5 collegiate vaulters for UCLA over 14' 1-3/4"
Curran is the owner and coach of his own track club, No Limit Sports.
Through No Limit Sports, Curran coaches athletes of all ages,
including junior high school, high school, college and masters
athletes. His club is one of the largest pole vault clubs in the
nation. No Limit Sports Club Members Include Mel Mueller 15'1", 2000 Olympian
and Mary Sauer 15'3", and Coached Canadian Record Holder
Stephanie McCann 14'7- 1/2" and Dana Elles to a new Canadian Record 14'8". Curran has coached 5 athletes to National records in 5 different countries. Okkert Brits, South Africa, Yoo Kim, Korea, Stephany McCann, Canada, Dana Elles, Canada, Tori Pena, Ireland, Paul Jr National Record, Austria, Chelsea Johnson, Collegiate National Record, USA, Tori Anthony National H.S. record holder, USA.
Anthony Curran is the only Coach in the World to have coached 4 woman over 15' and 5 collegiate woman over 14'1.75. He also has coached 10 men over 18' , 5 of them competed for UCLA and anthony also coached 27 Bruins over 17'.
Curran had a successful competitive career. He Competed in 3 Olympic Trials 80',84' and 92' and has a personal best
of 18' 8-1/2", he was a 4 time All American while at UCLA 18'2 1/2and held the National High School Record in 1978 at 17' 4 1/4".
In 2008 Curran took over all the jumps for the men and woman at UCLA. In 2009 Curran had 17 NCAA Regional Qualifiers.
